Hypnosis
Draw the image into a trance.
Hypnosis turns an existing image into a focal pattern: interleaved spiral ribbons, repeating scales, gently expanding regions, swinging impressions, traveling color, or image-covered hoops.
Use it to make abstract cover artwork and moving visual studies in Artfkt. A strong still composition comes first; playback reveals how the chosen structure shifts attention over time.

Build a hypnotic composition around a point of attention
A spiral makes the eye follow a path. Repeating scales suggest a passage inward. Both can give a simple source image a strong sense of direction, but they ask different things of its edges: a spiral winds those edges around a center, while nested scales make details return at different sizes.
Choose Spiral Fixation for interleaved ribbons and Endless Descent for repeated inward structure. Use an abstract source with a few distinct shapes or a clear light-dark boundary. Detailed lettering may become pattern rather than readable text, so keep essential information on a separate layer when it must survive the transformation.
Choose the kind of movement the image needs
Breathing Field expands and relaxes regions of the picture, producing softer local movement than an image-wide spiral. Pendulum Veil separates translucent impressions and brings them back toward alignment. It uses impressions of the current image, which makes its layered appearance different from a trail that stores earlier frames.
Chromatic Trance carries color through tonal bands as contours bend. Orbit Chamber wraps source detail around tilted hoops whose overlaps contribute a more sculptural sense of depth. Compare these alternatives on the same source before stacking them: one clear spatial idea often says more than several competing motions.
Give optical patterns room to breathe
Flat color fields, broad gradients, and abstract marks make it easier to see what each treatment contributes. Small noisy details can fill every ribbon and ring at once, leaving no resting place. Keep a quieter area around the focal structure or choose a source whose palette already has a clear hierarchy.
Compose while paused, then watch playback across the composition rather than judging a single attractive frame. Intrinsic Loop motion with fixed parameters is the starting point for a cycle fitted to the composition; additional parameter animation changes that relationship. For a still image, choose a phase for its shape and balance rather than relying on motion to make it interesting.
Effects in Hypnosis
6 effects to explore and combine.

Spiral Fixation
Wind image details into interleaved spiral ribbons.

Endless Descent
Travel inward through endlessly repeating image scales.

Breathing Field
Let regions of the image expand and relax in a slow rhythm.

Pendulum Veil
Swing translucent impressions apart and back into alignment.

Chromatic Trance
Move color through tonal bands while contours gently bend.

Orbit Chamber
Wrap the image around tilted hoops with depth and changing overlap.
Creative applications
- Make an abstract music-cover centerpiece with spiral bands and a separate, legible title layer.
- Develop ambient visual studies in which a restrained palette and breathing displacement carry the movement.
- Wrap abstract color and mark-making around Orbit Chamber hoops for a sculptural composition.
Starting workflow
- For an abstract spiral cover, start with a freely licensed abstract image or your own broad color shapes with a clear light-dark division.
- Apply Spiral Fixation. Choose the number of ribbons with Arms, then adjust Pull until adjacent ribbons are distinct without dissolving the whole source.
- Place the focal structure so there is room for any separate title or credit text. Inspect its silhouette while paused.
- Play the composition and compare the moving result with the still. Keep other parameters fixed while evaluating the intrinsic Loop motion.
- Reduce the treatment with Mix if too little of the source remains. For the final still, pause on a phase where the ribbons and negative space form a clear hierarchy.
Make it part of your next composition.
