Warp

Turn the image into a new space

Warp changes the space an image occupies: a local lens, a curved view, a twist, a reflected repeat, a circular mapping, or a moving displacement field.

Use the collection to redirect familiar shapes in Artfkt. Place the center, axis, or boundary first so the distortion has a clear relationship to the source.

Decide how much of the image should bend

Bulge/Pinch creates a local lens whose distortion fades at its boundary. Fisheye changes the overall curved-lens impression. Twirl turns detail around a movable center. A localized effect can preserve a stable surround, while a broader one makes the whole view participate.

Use a source with a recognizable contour, grid, or straight edge to compare the mappings. If there is no stable feature to judge, stronger distortion may simply look like a different abstract pattern. Choose the area that should change before increasing the amount.

Turn an image into a repeated structure

Mirror chooses which side of an axis supplies the reflection. Kaleidoscope repeats angular segments around a center. Tile Repeat duplicates the complete image in a rectangular grid. These can create a new graphic structure without requiring the source to be complex.

Polar Coordinates wraps a strip into a circle or unwraps a circular image into a strip. Perspective places the picture by its four corners while keeping straight lines straight and clearing the area outside the plane. Compare circular, repeated, and projected arrangements as different compositional systems.

Watch the frame as well as the center

Wave bends the image in repeating waves. Turbulent Displacement uses smoother irregular currents that can evolve over time. Set the field scale before increasing its strength so the source changes at an intentional spatial rhythm.

Inspect frame boundaries after strong warps, where displaced samples can pull edge colors into view. For graphic work, keep essential type on a separate layer when the image is meant to bend but the message must stay stable. A paused composition should already have a readable center or direction before motion is added.

Effects in Warp

Fisheye processed image preview

Fisheye

Bend the view through a curved lens.

Wave processed image preview

Wave

Bend the image in repeating waves.

Twirl processed image preview

Twirl

Twist the image around a movable center.

Kaleidoscope processed image preview

Kaleidoscope

Reflect the image into repeated angular segments.

Bulge & Pinch processed image preview

Bulge & Pinch

Shape a localized lens whose distortion smoothly disappears at the boundary.

Mirror processed image preview

Mirror

Move and rotate the mirror axis, then choose which side supplies the reflection.

Tile Repeat processed image preview

Tile Repeat

Repeat the complete image in a rectangular grid.

Polar Coordinates processed image preview

Polar Coordinates

Wrap the image into a circle or unwrap a circular image into a strip.

Turbulent Displacement processed image preview

Turbulent Displacement

Bend the image through smooth, evolving irregular currents.

Perspective processed image preview

Perspective

Place the picture by moving its four corners. Straight lines stay straight, and the frame outside the plane clears.

Creative applications

  • Make a radial cover pattern from a simple source crop using angular repetition.
  • Distort a single focal region while retaining a recognizable surrounding image.
  • Develop a flowing photographic background beneath clean typography.

Starting workflow

  1. For a kaleidoscopic cover study, choose a source with a few distinct shapes and contrasting colors.
  2. Apply Kaleidoscope and place its center over a source feature that creates an interesting repeated boundary.
  3. Choose the segment count for the overall rhythm, then compare the result at the intended cover size.
  4. Inspect the outer frame and quieter regions, changing the source crop if repetition makes every area equally busy.
  5. Place any title separately and keep the chosen still structure clear before adding parameter animation.

Make it part of your next composition.
