How to Make a Foil Poster Effect on Mac
Crumple a still life into metallic foil in Artfkt for Mac, then raise Iridescence so the same folds pick up color. The headline stays solid.

To make a foil poster effect in Artfkt for Mac, add Foil to the picture and leave the headline on its own text layer. Start with Iridescence at zero for dark metal. Raise that one control when the same folds should pick up color.
Foil builds creases, facets, and reflections in the picture. It does not make a foil-stamp file, a sheet of holographic paper, or a set of printer plates. Artfkt runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 13 or later. The free demo includes Glitch, Pixel, and Cameras on one image. It does not include Foil or editable text.
Place the still life
Download the still-life PNG
(1200 × 1600). It is a drawn sphere, a small cup, and a soft light on a dark ground. Use your own picture the same way. A broad highlight gives Relief a form to keep. Flat areas still receive creases.

Start a new session and add the picture first. An empty canvas takes that image’s size, so the poster becomes 1200 × 1600. Leave Scale (%) at 100 and Angle (°) at 0. If the picture sits off to the side, choose Center on canvas.
Add the headline on its own layer
Choose Add → Text. Choose Edit text, type GLINT, and press Command+Enter. Keep Inter selected. This example uses the bundled font, so no download is needed. In Active Layer, enter these settings, and set the position after the type:
- Font size: 200 px
- Font weight: 800
- Color: #f4efe4
- Alignment: center
- Letter spacing: 22 px
- Word spacing: 0 px
- Line height: 1
- Box width: 1000 px; Auto height
- Scale: 100%; Rotation: 0°
- X position: 0; Y position: 580

Leave Shared animation off and playback paused at the start. The headline stays editable after the picture is treated. Add effects to editable text shows how to revise the words and save the project.
Fold only the picture
Select the picture in Layers. Search the catalog for Foil, in Holographic & Metallic, and add it to that layer. Turn Animate: Foil off. Use these settings:
- Crinkle: 1.000%
- Strength: 1.00
- Frequency: 14
- Relief: 1.40
- Roughness: 0.16
- Relief scale: 1.6%
- Light angle: -40deg
- View angle: 18.0deg
- Seed: 41
- Iridescence: 0.00

Foil on the picture. GLINT is still the original cream, because that type is the other layer.
The creases cover the wall, the sphere, and the cup. The sphere’s highlight becomes a bright patch of facets, and the cup stays a separate form. Crinkle raises those folds. Frequency 14 keeps the facets large enough to read on the poster; a higher Frequency cuts the same surface into smaller pieces. Relief uses the picture’s brightness, which is why the sphere and cup survive. Strength at zero restores the picture. Seed 41 sets this crease arrangement.
Treat each poster layer with its own effect stack uses the same split for a different finish.
Raise Iridescence for color
Select the picture and change only Iridescence to 0.72. Leave Seed, Crinkle, and Frequency where they are, so the folds do not move.

The facets pick up green and violet, and the sphere’s highlight shifts toward magenta. That color comes from the foil reflections. It is not a second picture and not a print ink. Lower Iridescence when you want the metal quieter. The lighting is the effect’s own studio light. There is no environment photograph, shared mesh, or depth output.
To reuse the picture’s stack on another image, select that layer and open My Artfkts. Choose Save current FX…, name the stack, and save it. On the next picture, open My Artfkts, select that Artfkt, and Apply with Replace or Append. This copies the effect onto one layer at a time. It does not export a folder of posters.
Export a PNG
Use Quick Export and choose PNG. These examples match the 1200 × 1600 source. Another size is available within the limits of the renderer on your Mac. The PNG is the finished poster.
One expanded effect is remembered while you switch layers. That open state is not saved with the project. This recipe does not use a keyframe timeline.

How this example was made
The still life was drawn for this exercise with AI assistance. The headline was set in bundled Inter and rasterized with the studio’s text layout. The treatments shown were rendered by Artfkt’s production renderer at 1200 × 1600, with Animate off and playback at the start, with AI assistance in preparing the page. These settings describe the pictured example. They are not permanent defaults, and rendering can vary by device.
